The March 2022, Mill Run commenced from the Kalamunda Dome café, with a variety of cars, young and old competing. The tour went through scenic forests to Narrogin and then onto Katanning where we stopped for lunch at the lovely historic Old Mill Hotel. A wet and muddy day two saw participants travel through the Stirling Ranges in the Porongurup’s, with some friendly competition amongst cars. A lovely lunch was consumed at the Karri-On bar then a stop and look around Broomhill then back to the Old Mill Hotel for the night’s festivities. Day three concluded at the Quindanning Hotel for lunch, with all participants arriving safely and in good spirits.
The August 2022, Convent Run left from Dome headquarters in Maylands, and headed north through the scenic Chittering Valley. We arrived in Wongan Hills for lunch then headed off to Dalwallinu to the Old Convent, despite a few missed turns along the way. Dusty day two saw us head north along the rabbit proof fence road, through some neighbouring towns and back to Dalwallinu. A few participants had car trouble, so with some assistance from other cars, locals, and reinforcements they continued the run. After a sumptuous dinner, we had an auction and raised a further $$$$ for the RFDS, a fantastic effort. Storytelling that night was a slightly exaggerated tale of the day’s events. Day three, saw participants follow the route notes to the Farmers Hotel, Northam. The next morning, participants took a beautiful drive to Beverly for morning tea and then continued though the forest to The Noble Falls Tavern for lunch, and end of the run.
In 2023, we are planning two runs. In March, a four-day tour to Jurien and Morawa and in October a six-day run to Bridgetown, Denmark, Katanning, and Boddington, to raise further funds for the RFDS.
